The knees have it

We have been enjoying lovely mild autumn weather, so shorts have been worn for most of the week. Most of the week’s cool starts have developed into warm sunny days, and the trees are changing colour:

Our main item of news is that Nicky has been diagnosed with polymyalgia. She thought it might be arthritis, but that isn’t the case. Polymyalgia is treatable and she started her medication on Friday. While it is still early days, there has been some improvement already. The pain and fatigue have lessened and she feels more able to do things.

The other newsworthy item is that we have helped the quiz team that we have joined come first again. That’s twice in three weeks!

I have had two days off from working on the paddle steamer, though the days we have been sailing the boat has been full. Along with my household duties of strimming, trenching and cleaning, I have done some MacOnSite work. I also had an enjoyable walk to and from the Community Library on Thursday. Nicky had forgotten her lunch and taken the car with her. This also enabled me to catch up with a couple of local building sites which I am watching.

Nicky’s week has been dominated by her health and household chores. After doing her Monday morning work at church with Dale, she had morning tea with Dale and her husband at her home. The library was quiet on Thursday and our home was much cleaner on Saturday when I returned from sailing.

Jacqui (next door) had a friend over to take some aerial photos of her section with their drone. She has shared some of them with us. It is good to see how things have changed since we last had some taken two years ago:

We have both been tired so have been taking afternoon snoozes and squeezing in a few games (May Jong, Rummy-O, Rummy and Triominos). The Great British Sewing Bee final was on Thursday, and we treated ourselves to fish and chips for dinner on Friday.

Another packet of hot cross buns has also been consumed…

Take care, Rick and Nicky.
