Steaming Fences

Mist, rain and warm sunny periods have been the controlling factors in the smooth running of my laundry system this week. But, due to my sneaky approach of running out with a basket of wet washing as soon the sun comes out I have kept the contents of the laundry basket down to a minimum. The ironing, being an indoor activity (though now I come to think of it there are other options…) has just been down to motivation, but we got it all finished yesterday, ready for a new batch this week. Joy! Work has not been so busy for me this week, though I have had some. Lots of errands appear to have been done however, including: collecting consumables for Nicky's hearing aids; buying a FreeView box so that when the analogue signal is turned off at the end of November we can still legitimately complain that there is little or nothing worth watching. We will know. We will have watched and confirmed that it wasn't worth it. I popped up to the Doctor's on Tuesday so that he could

Bacon, mmmmm

I make notes each day ready for writing the blog on a Sunday evening, otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what we had been up to. Looking through this weeks notes it appears to have been a busy but unexciting week on the whole. My time has been filled with a good amount of Mac work, getting the washing dry in between the showers, and shopping. Nicky has been as busy as ever at the library, and spent most of one day at a meeting in town. The weather forecast for Friday was showers followed by rain. How are we supposed to know when the showers have finished and the rain has started? Does the weather do some sign writing in the sky or something? I had one fairly quick appointment on Thursday afternoon, and my shopping for the day pivoted around this. I had to range further afield than usual as a relatively local butchery had won a national award for their maple syrup bacon, and we wanted to try some. I discovered a Repco (like Halfords) in the same block of shops as the butchers

Spring like

It has been more like spring than winter here this week. Tuesday was a lovely sunny day, but Thursday and Friday were even better and warmer. Monday and Wednesday were good too, though we have had a little fog or dampness first thing some mornings. The rain returned for the weekend and with it a drop in temperatures. I have had a mixed week with some Mac work and lots of house husbandry, while also slowly getting through the bug which seems to be similar to what Nicky had. I think I am now over it but it has left me tired and lethargic. I had lunch with Claire on Monday (at Columbus Coffee at the end of her road) and bought some Olde English Pork sausages from Nosh which made a very good pie. I moved my Mac back into the "office" on Thursday, though Stella's technology is still in residence. I will finish putting the rest of the office back together once Stella has full telecommunications in Henderson and can set her office up there. I saw Claire again on Friday (del

Onwards and Upwards…

It has been a week of change. The house that Stella bought at auction just 2 weeks ago yesterday became officially hers on Wednesday - probably a world record. So, it was all hands on deck (so to speak) helping her with the move. On Wednesday the removal men brought all their things from storage, and we discovered that some of the bits required to assemble the bunk beds were either missing or broken. Nicky, Paul and Jenny all helped with unloading the van and distributing boxes. Jenny did us an excellent Shepherds Pie for dinner. Stella's bed was organised and she stayed overnight, while Tim & Katie came back to BHB with Nicky and I. I zipped off to Bunnings on Thursday morning to get the necessaries for the bunk beds, and then went over to Henderson and finished their assembly. Stella and I did a couple of car journeys of stuff from our place and she stayed in Henderson again. Friday was more car journeys of stuff, with Paul and Jenny taking a load too. Clem came
