It's quite warm really, under my four layers.

It isn’t really November, or if it is the November were have been getting this week has been more than a touch influenced by its cousin in the Northern hemisphere. It has been more cold and wet than warm and sunny. I have had to bring all my laundry skills to bear to get the washing dry outside, and not entirely succeeded. The ironing, being a completely  indoor activity, has been easier.

Nicky did some water blasting at church on Monday and got thoroughly chilled to the bone. Mary came over in the afternoon and stayed and watched The Chase with us while Nicky warmed up with pots of tea. On Tuesday she had to quickly zip into town for a training course after arriving and work and discovering she was in the wrong place, but the rest of her working week has been much more normal. My working week has been very quiet, with no paid work at all, but a number of phone calls and emails to deal with. This has coincided with my cold (or what ever virus it is) lingering and I have felt quite rough some of the time. I am hoping I have turned a corner over the weekend.

On Wednesday evening we had a very enjoyable “end of term” life group social at Lai Thai. Nicky had a whole snapper and I had peanut curry with pork and both were tasty and substantial. On Thursday evening I went into town for a Deep and Meaningful meetup, which meant that Nicky came home to an empty house after her late duty. Unfortunately the burglar alarm wouldn’t switch off when she came into the house, and even with help from Dawn and a phone call to the supplier it was awhile before it went quiet.

As some of you will already be aware we have had a change of technology this week. We have ceased our telephone landline and switched broadband provider as this will halve our monthly bill. Some of the savings will be taken up by a little extra mobile phone use, but we hardly used the landline as I switched to using my mobile for all my work calls around a year ago.

After work yesterday Nicky Scrabbled at Stella’s along with Steve and Ros. In the evening we watched The Journey on DVD, and imagination of the conversation between Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness when forced to travel together in a taxi. It was very good and I would strongly recommend it. We plan to watch it again after Mary returns it.

I have started in earnest this weekend on scanning all the photographs in our photo albums, around 7000 in total. I have been meaning to do this for awhile because I am aware that the chemistry is not entirely stable, and I have discovered that I am a little late with some of them already . I have got around 300 done this weekend, so I that rate I might be finished by the middle of next year! I could do with some Boy Scouts on Bob-a-Job week!

Take care, Rick
