Nice for the time of year

We have been enjoying a week of mainly sunny, warm and dry autumnal weather this week - cool mornings and evenings with very pleasant afternoons.

We started the week with Nicky’s day off and a trip to Dilworth Hearing to get a replacement hearing aid for the one Nicky lost on the way to the bus stop a couple of weeks ago. Melissa the audiologist paired the new one up and we also installed an app on my phone to communicate with them, which over a short distance might help us locate them if one gets lost again. The insurance company have been brilliant again - the replacement and its fitting hasn’t cost us anything, even though it’s only little over a year ago that Nicky had to have a complete new pair of hearing aids after loosing one of her originals while we were on holiday. We had a little rain in the afternoon and Nicky did some baking and ironing. We had the evening at church for a DVD presentation on the Five Languages of Love, which we both found quite interesting.

The rest of the week has been much more routine. The library has been busy, but only normal busy now that the schools have gone back. Work for me has been very quiet. The only on-site job this week was to install some RAM. However, with the mainly dry weather my laundry routine has progressed nicely. Nicky had an evening at life group, I had an evening drink up at The Block, and on Friday morning I took advantage of the weather and went out west to O’Neills for a good walk along the beach and a swim.

On Saturday I dropped Nicky at work and then went to Titirangi to sit for a life drawing class. The library was very busy with there being a couple of music sessions running. Stella and Steve came over from Scrabble at the end of the day, and Tanya who Nicky used to work with dropped in for a good chat.

Today started out wet so when Nicky got back from church we started watching Liar, a 6-episode UK drama which I recored a while ago. After we had seen the first 2, the sun came out so we went for a walk before lunch, and despite the improved weather we watched the rest of the episodes during the afternoon and evening.

We were awake early again this morning so Nicky has had an early night while I stayed up and watched film, but now I’m off to bed too.

Take care, Rick
