After Easter
We had a very good start to the week with it being Easter Monday and therefore a public holiday. The weather was also lovely so after breakfast Nicky packed up a picnic lunch and we went of to The Cascades, a waterfall out in the Waitakere Ranges. The walk to and from the waterfall through bush on well laid paths was very pleasant, but we didn’t get to actually see the waterfall. Our boulder-climbing skills were no match for the boulders between the path and the waterfall. We got to hear it though.
Heading off to Bethalls Beach to consume our picnic lunch was possibly not the best idea, as lots of other folks were there before us. We managed to find a parking space but the beach was packed and there wasn’t a deck chair to be had for love nor money. We returned home when I started to get to hot, and had excellent pancake stacks for tea.
In spite of the lovely weather, it was back to work on Tuesday. Nicky has had a very noisy (and busy) week at the library with the schools being on holiday. I took her over to Remuera for a mammogram late Tuesday afternoon, and she went to house group with Jancis on Wednesday.
I have only had one Mac job this week, but have got laundry done, comestibles purchased, meals prepared, swim at Herne Bay, helped Jancis with a spreadsheet, had another B12 injection, and a very good MeetUp evening.
As the week has progressed the weather has started to change, though the northerly breeze was nice and warm. Yesterday was dryer than we expected and warm and sunny by mid-morning. Nicky cut the grass while I did more washing and pottering in the office. Stella came over for Scrabble and a bite of lunch and we had a quiet evening watching an Italian Police drama on DVD.
Today has been cooler and duller, but I still enjoyed a walk along the beach at Karekare while Nicky was at church. This afternoon we have been over to the new art gallery, Te Uru, in Titirangi, which is next to Lopdell House. It was built as part of the Lopdell House refurbishment and opened awhile ago. It is a great building - I really liked the staircases, and we enjoyed the exhibitions too.
This evening will be tellybox again - Thunderbirds starts tonight!! And on a lighter note, I have finally got down to the weight I was just before we went to the UK, almost 2 years ago. I’m still heavier than I ought to be but I’m currently going in the right direction.
Take care, Rick
