Busy end to the month

Nicky has had a really busy week this week, both at work and socially. She was out for four of the weekday evenings with prison prayer group, works meal for Matariki, house group, and another church prayer group. She has been under a lot of pressure at work with all the things she is being asked to do for Matariki and the library being short staffed. The weekend was a welcome break.

I too have been quite busy with work - out all day Tuesday and some work on all but one of the other weekdays. The time in-between has been filled with the usual second guessing of the weather in order to get the laundry dry, ironing and shopping. We have had more sun this week so it has been a bit easier.

On Tuesday Lucy arrived to spend a few days with us. Stella and I popped down to a new night market in New Lynn on Thursday evening. It was supposed to start last week but didn't due to the stormy weather. There were only a handful of stalls (it will hopefully grow) but I bought some lovely maple syrup smoked bacon, and some eye fillet steak for Nicky and I to have four dinner on Friday night. On Friday Stella took Katie over to Howick and had dinner with Paul and Jenny and Katie stayed the night (and Saturday). Also, the photo book which had put together of our UK trip arrived. It is a nice memento.

Saturday was a gorgeous sunny day, and with little breeze it was also quite warm. I cooked scrambled egg, toast, bacon and black pudding for breakfast for Stella, Nicky, Tim, Lucy and myself. I then spent most of the day ironing and drying loads of washing. Nicky needed to get some kraft products for work next week and went off and had a very successful trip, while the Moss-Mason's were out and about doing various things.

In the evening Nicky and I went up to Parakai, and stopped in Kumeu on the way and had fish and chips as a treat. This meat we were at the hot pools a bit earlier than usual, but Nicky had a book with her and finally settled in a reasonably lit spot and read. We won a bottle of Appletiser in the raffle and drank it while wallowing in the pools. Not quite Dirty Banana cocktails, but a very relaxing evening none the less.

Today hasn't been so good for getting washing dry, but it has been OK for visiting open homes. Nicky and I went along to a couple with Stella, and Paul and Jenny joined us at one while retiring Katie. We enjoyed watching a film, "The Blind Side" on TV this evening.

Take care,
Rick
