Busy Week

We have all had a busy week. Along with attending her lectures, tutorials, twice-weekly yoga and shifts at Whitcoulls, Claire has been working hard on a 2000 word essay amongst other things. Nicky has done four and a half days at New Lynn library and now has a much better idea of what the future holds. Unfortunately she will not be going back to Ranui, certainly for the foreseeable future. She feels very sad about this as she really enjoyed the people and atmosphere in Ranui, but her managers think it is too stressful. Her other concern has been that moving to a different post will mean a significant cut in pay, but that concern now seems to be past by her being officially transferred to New Lynn on medical grounds. So, this week she starts full time Monday to Friday at New Lynn, and the team there are very pleased to have her join them permanently.

I have had some Mac work which has been good, two of my three jobs this week being with new customers. I have also set up a wireless router for Jancis at her cousin's home. They only had a single user modem and Jancis has an iPod touch so needed wireless internet access. The router we bought had a problem getting going with their connection, but we got there in the end. Jancis very kindly presented me with two bottles of wine for my troubles, one of which Nicky and I drank on Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed (along with a packet of GrainWaves - like crisps but roasted wholemeal stuff). I have also upgraded the OS on my Mac mini so that I can mange my iPod and Nicky's iPad from it, and that took awhile to do and configure everything the way I like it.

In addition, I have had a couple of evenings out: Monday at a very good camera club workshop where we discussed some images which we had all brought along, as opposed to having a competition assessed by an external judge. Friday at the Cock and Bull just down the road with the church Mens Group. There were not many of this time but it was still enjoyable.

The weather has improved towards the end of the week and the weekend has be gorgeous; clear skies producing cool nights and sunny days. We have switched from the comforter to the lightweight duvet on our bed today, along with putting the clocks back an hour so we are now eleven hours in front of the UK.

Yesterday was laundry and sunbathing for me, shopping (garden and haberdashery) for Nicky and then sewing. Nicky was planning to go to the quilting day in Ranui but wanted to sew at home, but she popped over to Ranui with a cake for the library staff and had a very emotional visit. There was a free music festival in the afternoon up at the BHB primary school which we could hear in our garden. After diner we strolled up for the last half hour as the bands had sounded very good. The band closing the event was doing a Rolling Stones set so it was very lively.

Today has been more sewing (Nicky is working on a waistcoat for me) and sunbathing (I have also done laundry). Steve and Ros came over for Scrabble and I have been sorting out the photos on Nicky's iPad as there were not in the correct chronological order. March is over and done with and now we are into April. Already!!

Take care,
Rick
