Two and a half years

It is two and a half years ago today that we arrived in New Zealand, so we may celebrate with a bottle of wine this evening.

It has been a fairly routine week for Nicky with work and Maori class, and for Claire with Uny, sofa testing and Whitcoulls. She had been asked to swap shifts this week and worked Friday instead of Thursday.

I have had quite a busy week. The vicar's fiancé Murray runs an IT support company, most of their customers using PC's. However, they have a few with Macs and Murray asked if I would be available to do some Mac support for them. So, on Monday I went off to their office in Onehunga for induction into their systems and procedures. Then on Tuesday I went to see one of their customers with a couple of minor but irritating issues. On Wednesday I went with one of their existing staff to a couple of their sites which they visit every week, but there was nothing which needed my attention, so I spent some time rebuilding a Mac in their office. They have taken me on part-time at the moment and we will see how it works out.

I did some MacOnSite work on Thursday which required me to organise a drive replacement next week, and then finally on Friday got round to doing some of the ironing.

On Monday evening I visited a local photography club for the first time. I have not been to one anywhere before so didn't know what to expect. It turns out that members submit photographs (there is a theme each month) and they are judged and awarded points, and anybody who listens to Radio 4 knows that points mean prizes! I found it very interesting so might join myself (membership is required to submit photos for judging).

We have had a quiet weekend at home, enjoying the end of summer sunshine. The mornings are getting cooler but the daytime highs are still in the low to mid 20's. We have had a little rain which is a relief for some as we have had a very dry summer (I'm not complaining though).

Claire and I are looking forward to the start of the F1 Grand Prix season in Bahrain tonight. We think the race will start around 11pm our time so we won't know the result until tomorrow morning as we will be in bed by then.

Bye for now,

Rick
