August 23rd

I have had a very quiet week this week - no work and then coming down with a cold. I have been getting my business administration into a better state of order and doing the usual household things - laundry, shopping and cooking.

Nicky has had another busy work week and is continuing with her sinus rinsing and steaming to get them in order.

Claire has had her last week of the first half of the University semester. In celebration one of her lecturers arranged a "gathering" on Tuesday evening which went down well.

Nicky joined a family working party at Clare Cottage on Saturday and came home very tired but feeling that things had been achieved. We had a very restful day on Sunday (I am writing this Monday morning because I forgot last night due to enjoying watching The Big bang Theory too much), which I think was good for all of us.

The weather is staying quite mild, but when the sun is out it is getting warmer. On Friday, the 21st, there seemed to be a significant change in the angle of the sun to me. With it tracking round the front of our house during the day, you start to notice where the shadows are falling at regular times of the day, and Friday seemed to be quite different to me. I suspect this is partially my imagination, but spring may well be on the way.

My mind is also going back to two years ago. This time then, our container had left Loughborough the day before and we were into the throws of tidying up the house and disposing of all the stuff that hadn't been packed. I remember it being warm, sunny and exhausting. We had planned to be off to Farnborough for the weekend on the Friday but due to all the clearing up we had to do didn't get there until the Sunday. That was OK as our next commitment was Farnham with Veronica on Monday and Guernsey on Tuesday. It all went OK in the end.

Bye for now,

Rick
