January 18th
Monday was Rachel's last full day in NZ. She very kindly took us out to dinner. She had been to the Museum, and Claire had been on duty there, so they picked me up from work and we drove over to Ranui to collect Nicky. We decided to go to Icon/Bar 159 at Lincoln Green as it was on the way home and we were hungry. We had a great meal sat outside in the early evening sun. A very pleasant way to end a Monday.
On Tuesday Rachel went into town, and Claire took her to the airport in the afternoon for her evening flight. We were sad to see her go but very pleased that she had such a good time in NZ.
Until Nicky broke a tooth eating breakfast on Thursday, it had been a quiet week. The Rail Buses had been working well, the weather had been fine and warm, and work was continuing as normal. Fortunately, Nicky was able to get a Friday lunchtime appointment and had her tooth rebuilt.
The other exciting event was that Claire's student ID card arrived, so she took it out to the cinema with some friend to make sure it worked for getting discounts.
Claire has been at work all weekend, so Nicky and I have just pottering round at home, and killing the flies - so much so I have had to buy a new fly swat today!
Trains are back in service this coming week, in theory. We shall see.
Bye for now,
Rick
