July 6th

First of all apologies to all you regular blog watchers. The problem is I tend to update the blog on a Sunday evening. It is the end of the week and we tend not to go out with Monday morning being just round the corner. However, last Sunday we were out - at the cinema with Steve and Ros and Lucy, Tim and Katie, to see Prince Caspian which most of us enjoyed. By the time we got home it was about half past eight and all we wanted to do was eat and go to bed.

Now I know I could have updated the blog later in the week, but I was doing MacOnSite work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and just didn't get round to it. The Monday and Thursday jobs were in town so I walked there after finishing work at Ubertec. A consequence of this has been discovering a coffee house chain called Esquires. They not only do very nice coffee, but also excellent chocolate and caramel muffins, bacon and egg pie and things called thimbles, which are small pastry delights and are wonderful. It is a good job I was doing so much walking to compensate for the calorie intake. Have just been and got weighed and I have put a kilo on this week - ah well. I still haven't broke the 90kg barrier but I was close last weekend so I will get there in the end.

Nicky is doing better than she has in a while because of her tooth being taken out. They had discovered that it has died and suggested that she should have it removed, which she did a week last Thursday. Since then the gum has started to heal well, she is in a lot less pain, and some of the other strange symptoms she was having have waned or disappeared. Work has kept her busy and she now only gets Tuesday and Wednesday off or part of them.

Claire continues to extra hours as requested at Whitcoulls, though she has had a shift or two off sick the week before last. She is really starting to enjoy the company of her friends and is having shopping trips and cinema visits with them whenever she can.

I have bought another heater this weekend as winter is now setting in with some quite major storms. We have two of Claire's school friends from England coming to stay for eight days in a couple of weeks and felt the spare room/office could really do with some warmth.

I think the only other notable event it that I have completed and submitted my tax return this week. I might get a tax rebate - if the fact that I didn't arrive until half way through the tax year wasn't taken into account I would get all my tax back! The form was quite a bit easier to complete than the English one, which for the last 10 years I has my accountant do. Next year could be different depending on how much I earn through MacOnSite.

All the best for now,

Rick
