Bunnies and Bells

 Thursday was the last day of the working week for Number 1 daughter prior to the five (!) day long Easter weekend. She kindly (?) sent me this photo of the bunny fest that was happening in the office:

I could almost smell them. Fortunately we have been working our way through a half dozen ourselves, and we have another packet in the freezer incase of a bunny emergency.

We have had a mainly fine and sunny week again, hitting the low 20’s in the shade most days. This has enabled more work in the garden and easy drying of the washing. The jigsaw was finally finished on Monday evening. Nicky’s Home Group was at church on Tuesday afternoon with the Holy Week prayer stations. In the evening she attended a Bible Friends Holy Communion service as her home group supports Bible Friends, which is church for intellectually disabled adults.

We both had a fun time on Wednesday watching a video that Claire had sent us about Taylor’s bell foundry in Loughborough, where we used to live. It was both entertaining and interesting and had hints of the warm and fuzzies because of our association with the area. There are four of Taylors bells here in Whanganui in the old Fire Watch tower. The evening quiz was hard this week. We came 6th equal with a number of other teams on 81 points.

Before going to the library on Thursday, Nicky started making some naan bread. Some of this she took with her to contribute to the Passover dinner in the evening, and the rest of the dough she put in the freezer for Saturday. I finished reading Black Diamonds, a very interesting book about the Wentworth family and coal mining in South Yorkshire through the 20th century. Wentworth is not far from where I lived as a young thing so had a particular resonance. On her way home from the Passover dinner Nicky saw that the moon was just rising and looking very large:

I realised why the Artemis 2 mission is on its way to the moon at the moment - it won’t be quite as far to go.

Nicky was at church on Friday morning for the Good Friday service. The rest of the lovely sunny day was devoted to exciting tasks such as washing the bed linen and cutting the grass.

On Saturday Nicky spent most of the day in the kitchen preparing Mary Berry’s chicken curry, naan bread, and Paul Hollywoods peach and apricot cobbler. A duet of never before tried recipes (she already has a good reputation for naan bread) that turned out exceedingly well. I spent much of the day reading a Sue Grafton novel, and we had another enjoyable evening with Mark and Krystyna when they came over. During the afternoon I was outside with my camera and spotted a butterfly on one of the dahlias. As I took some pictures I was photo bombed by a passing bee looking for a feed:

The clocks went back an hour last night, so the evenings will start to draw in pretty quickly. Nicky enjoyed the Easter Day service at church this morning, which like Friday was very well attended. We hope you all have a very happy Easter, and don’t over indulge on the bunnies and chocolate.
