Chilly start to spring

The first of September is the official start of spring here, and the weather has marked the occasion with a high pressure system over the weekend. The blue skies and sunshine has been very welcome, but the cold southerly breeze less so. For the first time since winter began we have felt the need for extra bedding and got our American starry quilt out yesterday. The rest of the week has been changeable and unpredictable, making getting the washing dry a very vexing task.

Nicky has had a busy week with work, but quieter on the social front, only going out on Thursday evening to a prayer group.

Work has been very quiet for me this week, with just one job, an OS and RAM upgrade to a laptop. I went to see the machine on Tuesday to see what it needed, and arranged to collect it on Friday morning so that I could do the upgrades over the weekend. A few minutes before I planned to leave on Friday morning, we had a power cut, so I couldn't open the garage door to get the car out. I grabbed my HOP card and zipped up to the Dairy to put some more money on it, but their power was out too, so the bus driver had the deal with a $20 note, which he didn't seem too thrilled about. The power had been restored by the time I had got back, but the washing had got wet so inside it came.

On Monday evening we had Denis and Helen from Nicky's house group over for diner (Helen's husband is in the UK at the moment). We did smoked fish pie with lemon curd cheesecake for pud and it went down very well. Claire and Ryan also called in as Ryan has some work in the area, so we had a very good evening.

We have had a very quiet weekend at home, as I have not been feeling well. I started to feel odd yesterday morning but thought it was because we were up later than usual and I was really ready for my breakfast. By the time we had finished eating breakfast I felt worse - my arms felt very light and I had a great desire just to sit down, even though I was sitting down. Over the next hour or two things improved, but I didn't start feeling really like normal again until the evening. Steve, Ros and Stella came over for Scrabble.

Today I felt fine when I got up after having a good nights sleep, but after pottering round the house for a while I started to feel quite tired, then while changing the bed I suddenly felt like my legs were going to stop supporting me and that I needed to sit down, so I did. Again I haven't felt quite right through the afternoon, and like yesterday, have been surprised at the ease at which I can drop off to sleep. As a result, I have cancelled my modelling job tomorrow evening and will probably try and see the GP at some point during the day.

Clair and Ryan came over today to take us out from brunch with it being Father's Day, but I just didn't feel confident enough to walk up to The Block so Nicky made us some excellent orange & date and raisin & lemon scones. Nicky has been out delivering flyers for the church this afternoon once she was happy that I was well enough to be left on my own!

Well, thats all for now.
Take care,
Rick
