Busy end to the month
It has been an eventful week, one way and another. Wednesday was very wet, which was a bit of a contrast to the general state of the weather which has been warmer and better than usual for this time of the year.
Nicky has had another full week at work which has been good. Claire has had a slightly quieter week at Uny now that she has got all her assignments done and has moved onto revision and preparation for her exams. I have had a very mixed week work wise. I haven't had a great deal of work again. The job I did on Thursday was fine, but on Tuesday I was informed that the job I had done on Monday had turned out to be a disaster. I paid for things to be put right which the customer didn't expect, but I was shocked by the mistake I had made. In a similar situation a week or so before I had not made the same mistake. It has left me giving a great deal of thought to how i operate and to my future.
Our non-working week has been quite a bit busier. On Monday evening I went to a camera club workshop which was being presented by a couple of travel photographers. This was both interesting and enjoyable.
Nicky was helping with the food at Alpha at church again on Tuesday, and then her life group on Wednesday. On Thursday evening Mike Cox joined us again after taking his Helen to the airport for her flight back to the UK. On Friday morning Mike returned the camper van to the hire company and organised himself a WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) situation which starts on Monday, so he has stayed with us over the weekend.
The staff at Ranui library organised a farewell lunch for Nicky on Saturday, so we dropped her off and Mike and I continued out to Bethalls Beach for a picnic (of excellent cheese and chutney sandwiches which Nicky had made for us) and a wander down the beach. The sun came out just as we found a sheltered spot to stop and eat and stayed out and warm for the rest of our time on the beach, though the wind was quite fresh. Nicky had also enjoyed herself and caught the train home.
Today we have been up to visit Clem and Pat at their new house (about 2kms from their old house) for lunch with some other family members, and by happy coincidence were able to toast the arrival of their new grandchild that Kim delivered yesterday. We dropped Mike in town on the way home and had a quiet afternoon enjoying the warmth of the sun, before watching Sherlock Holmes on the tellybox this evening.
At some point on Tuesday I managed to bruise my right foot. The bruising has now gone but it is still painful at times and a little swollen.
That's all for now,
Take care, Rick.
