End of January

It's Sunday evening again, Nicky and I are sitting down to watch a little telly, Claire and Ryan are out at the movies, so I thought I would put fingers to keyboard.

We got back from Stanmore Bay a little while ago. Clem and Pat had invited us up for a family Sunday lunch, another welcome for Becky. We had a very pleasant afternoon and before returning home Nicky and I had a stroll along Red Beach.

Yesterday Nicky and I went up north to Uretiti. Well that was the pan, but we never actually made it. We had decided to visit Waipu Cove before going to the beach and spent a little while there. The weather wasn't as sunny as we had expected as clouds scudded across the sky, but we did have some gorgeous fresh fruit ice cream. We then decided to follow the road down to Langs Beach and had a walk on the sand. Following the road further south, we ended up taking a wrong turn somewhere (we didn't have a map of the area with us) and had a pleasant adventure down some unmetaled roads, before seeing a sign pointing to somewhere we knew. So, we ended up having an enjoyable day even though it wasn't what we planned. Claire went to the cinema in the evening to see Nine with a couple of girl friends. None of them were impressed.

Nicky has had another busy week at work. One Wednesday I took her to the hospital to see an ENT specialist about her sinusitis. He couldn't find anything anatomically wrong after sticking a camera up her nose, so is arranging a CT scan for her.

I have done a little Mac work too. I have seen a new customer in Papakura who was very interesting - he builds major Meccano models such as fully working cranes, gear boxes and all. He was very interesting to talk to while getting his Mac working again.

We had major nerd excitement on Thursday when Apple launched their iPad - it is like a big iPod Touch and very desirable as far and Claire and I are concerned.

Tomorrow is Auckland Anniversary day so we get a public holiday. Not sure what we will do - depends on the weather, which has been nothing like the forecasts this week. The met service has been predicting rain and storms all week, but were only right for about an hour on Thursday afternoon. The rest of the week has been warm and sunny with fluffy clouds, not bad for January.

Bye for now,

Rick
