Bunny Consumption
We have been enjoying some lovely autumnal weather this week. Cool starts, largely clear skies, developing into sunny days. The end of Daylight Saving has returned the lighter mornings but evening creeps up on us earlier.
The third Covid booster is now available to us, so we had ours on Tuesday afternoon. Sore arms, aching limbs and tiredness pervaded our Wednesday, but we were both feeling much more recovered on Thursday. Nicky also had her ‘flu shot.
I saw a hand physio for treatment of my inflamed tendons in my right hand on Wednesday. After discussing where and when it hurts, she massaged my forearm (which I now have to do every day). The physio gave me some exercises to do, and made a very nifty soft cast for me to wear at night:
This was bliss on the first night, as for the first time in months I was pain free. It hasn’t been quite as effective on subsequent nights, but my wrist is more comfortable with it than without it.
Nicky has had an up and down week with her arthritis. She also seems to have picked up a gastric bug which prevented her from attending church on Maundy Thursday evening, though she had been at the Community Library all day.
With it being Easter this weekend we have been trying to consume as many hot cross buns as possible before the supermarket stops selling them. This has been easier for me as I have also had access to them on the boat. We have sailed every day except for Thursday. On Monday and Tuesday we did three 1-hour sailings for primary schools. One of these was quite a challenge. We have been at capacity over the weekend which makes getting around the boat difficult. We have also been short-handed over the weekend, so I have been seeking assistance from the passengers when showing the pigeons, attaching messages and releasing them. The Easter Bunny cruise was very popular with families with small children today. I am looking forward to more “normal” sailings next week.
Nicky has picked our two pumpkins. We have only used one so far and it was good. We have had it roasted and as the base for soup.
The last two evenings we have been binge-watching series four of The Bay (police drama set in Morecambe) and have enjoyed it as much as the previous series. We also received some sad news from Jacquie next door. With her building plans having got nowhere, she has found a house she wants to buy on the other side of town. She is hoping to sell her section privately and move in the not too distant future. We have enjoyed having her as a neighbour and plan to keep in touch.
Take care, Rick and Nicky
