A bit more progress

We have been in Wanganui again this week. Our home is really starting to look like a house from the outside, as much of the cladding is now on. Inside is still a building site as the lovely thick insulation goes in. We had informative conversations with Adam the Actual Builder and his crew before heading into town. Nicky wants to organise a blessing so we called into her currently chosen church, and then we went to The Cooperative Bank to open a savings account. After lunch we did another tour of possible self-storage locations and discovered a shop that does all sorts of “home improvements”, such as fencing and wardrobe fit-outs. We asked them to quote for the fencing.

At the end of the day we met our new neighbour, Jacqui, who had contacted us about fencing on our mutual boundary, and we rounded off with a good long chat with our other neighbours, Paul and Naomi, while giving them another tour of the house.

Back in Auckland it was mainly laundry in the sunny breezy weather, and some bits of remote support for me.

On Thursday I hosted my last Deep and Meaningful session. I may be able to attend another one (or more depending on when we move), but I won’t host another one in Auckland.

While I was heading into town, Nicky was heading over to Stella’s to help her prepare for her new carpet going down. She had been into town earlier for a very enjoyable concert.

On Friday our garden design arrived, prompting much discussion. It isn’t what we expected, but then again I couldn’t draw what I expected, but we really like the curves in the design and much of the planting that has been suggested. It’s a really good stating point for us. In the evening we went over to see Stella’s new carpet and had BurgerFuel with her to celebrate.

Nicky had her BHB Quilters Christmas Lunch and Farewell on Saturday, which was very well attended and enjoyable, as it is probably the last one she will get to. Steve and I went over to Stella’s to help with post carpet laying reorganisation, and erected some shelves in her craft room. Due to lots of other commitments, it has been a Scrabble-free weekend.

Take care, Rick.
