Keeping Mrs. Trellis happy
Spring is in the air, not only because it’s September 1st, but we have also had some spring-like weather in the later part of the week. Even though we started with rain, we were feeling of a sunnier disposition as our contract to buy the section in Wanganui went conditional. The two conditions are our finance and our due diligence clause. The finance one is to make sure we can actually get hold of our money, so forms were requested, completed and submitted so hopefully that will prove to be OK. The due diligence is so that we can get a more accurate costing for doing the build, thus enabling us to determine whether or not we can afford to build what we want to build on the section. This is still a work in progress.
The rest of the week has been been much more routine. Nicky has had her three sessions at church with Seniors and Holy Communion, and has done her volunteer hours at the WARC. On Wednesday after church she had a very long “morning tea” with Jan, Valda, Anne and Helen down at the Columbus Café at Mitre 10. Much news was exchanged and discussed. She has also been pounding the streets doing deliveries for church.
I have been more occupied with work and August has finished better than July. I have also managed a couple of morning walks and had a good MeetUp discussion on Thursday evening.
While I popped down to New Lynn yesterday morning after breakfast for some new sink plugs, Nicky made scones (savoury and orange/date). At mid-day Steve and Stella came over for Scrabble, and with Ros joining them later it occupied the whole afternoon.
Today has been a lovely spring day. We awoke to photos from Anna and Richard’s wedding which were enjoyed with our first pot of tea of the day. It wasn’t quite as pleasant at Karekare which I visited while Nicky was at church. We spent the rest of the day pottering in preparation for major telly boxing this evening.
Take care, Rick
