Illumination

With having no public holidays this week, things have been a little more routine, and the end of the week delivered our major social activities.

On Friday evening we were joined by Jancis and Stella for our annual free Blues concert down at the beach. There was just one act doing a three hour session this year, and from what they said it will sadly be their last appearance at the Music in the Parks festival. The weather was fine, the fish and chips were great, and watching the sun go down and the stars come out while listening to the music was a good way to end the week.

The library has stared to get busier again this week, especially at the beginning of the day. After avocado and scrambled eggs on The Rattigan on Monday morning, Nicky set to making desserts for Alpha and one for us. Mary came over during the afternoon while I was out working and we had a relaxing evening.

My work week has been busier, including two long visits to customers on Friday. The warm to hot summer weather has continued to make drying the washing straightforward. After my Deep and Meaningful discussion in town on Thursday, I walked over to the domain to take a look at the Chinese Lantern Festival. Here are a few photos for your enjoyment:

We didn’t do anything special for Valentines Day, though Nicky did go and have a blood test ready for her next GP appointment, and wore red for work like most of the library staff members.

On Saturday morning I took Nicky to work and then collected Stella and went over to Cockle Bay to meet Anna and her squeeze Richard. We saw Becky and Abe (and Naomi, Doug and the boys briefly) too and enjoyed the food and the conversation. After dropping Stella at home I did a bit of work shopping in Henderson, and then after lunch some supermarket shopping. Stella brought Nicky home and they were joined by Steve and Ros for Scrabble.

Nicky had a very poor night last night - she started vomiting around 1 am and wasn’t able to settle in bed again until around 6am. As a result we have had a quiet day at home reading and chatting and ironing, and she is starting to feel recovered.

Take care, Rick
