Friday, as those of you with a pulse will be aware, was September 14th, which means that it was our 11th anniversary of arriving in Aotearoa. To celebrate I bought us some cut flowers as we hadn’t planned anything special. I think now that we have passed 10 years, the “minor” anniversaries are less significant. One thing I am a little surprised about is that I am still writing this blog and you, Dear Reader, deserve thanks for hanging on in there with me and encouraging me to continue. Thank you. Mauruuru.

Our working week’s have been consistent but still quite quiet at the library for Nicky, and quite busy, challenging and productive for me. I have had work on every day and have a couple of jobs which are continuing into the coming week, one because the source of the problem is proving to be elusive. I had my first working lunch of the season by the sea on Friday at Browns Bay, and then a bit of a stroll along the sand to help my salad settle before driving home.

Luna, our lovely Suzuki Swift, had an overnight stay up at the garage and was diagnosed with a failing oxygen sensor. This may be the last time that she enjoys the TLC of Peter Bainbridge Limited as Peter is retiring and selling the business so we may have to find an alternative provider. It will be a sad day for us and many others in the Bay as Peter and his staff have provided brilliant service and support for many years.

Our weather has been pretty similar all week - grey starts developing into lovely sunny afternoons and gradually rising temperatures as the days have progressed. Spring seems to be on its way, so we will be getting some rain next week.

Nicky had yesterday off so that she could go along to her quitting group, and then Steve came over for Scrabble afterwards. Today she has been at the Going West Writers Festival in Titirangi on a complimentary ticket from work. I booked myself in for three of this morning sessions, and lunch for both of us so that we could enjoy some of the day together. The festival was up to its usual very high standard with excellent presenters and discussions, and lovely food. I deposited Nicky there for the start of the day this morning and then went for a walk along Scenic Drive before my first session, and had the pleasure off some views which I don’t normally get to see as I drive along the road on my way to the west coast:

Take care, Rick
