See Food...

The spring weather has been mixed again this week, but when we are getting sunshine it is pleasant and getting warmer. When we don’t, the rain can be very heavy and some of the beginning and end of day temperatures have been on the cooler side.

Monday was very windy resulting in our Heritage Festival tour of the Museum Roof being cancelled. I ended up working and Nicky made us some very nice onion soup. Tuesday and Wednesday were also busy with work for me, and even though I had no more paid work at the end of the week Thursday and Friday were busy with admin and domestic duties. I had a good walk with James (friend from D&M) on Thursday and a good MeetUp discussion in the evening, and went up to The Block for a beer on Friday.

The library has been very busy this week with the schools being on holiday, and Nicky has been tired each evening. She Scrabbled at Stella’s along with Steve after work on Saturday.

I did a couple more Heritage Festival events yesterday: tour of the museum building, looking at its origins in 1925 and its developments. This was very interesting, but required coffee and a piece of orange cake in the Winter Gardens café afterwards. I then walked down to the waterfront for an exhibition of clinker boats, and saw this new sculpture and amusing sign on the way:

Today started very wet as Nicky went off to church, but by lunchtime it was drier and there was even some sunshine as Nicky drove off to prison. I caught a bus over to Mt Roskill in order to get to my Three Kings tour. This was good, though ended up being 3 hours instead of 2, and was quite a long walk. Our guide was Micheal Wood MP, who was very good: knowledgeable, good diction and easy to understand. Nicky kindly came and collected me after having a brief visit from Clem and Pat.

We have had some of the fruit bread that we bough at Hobsonville last weekend for tea, and it was very nice. We are both quite jaded so will probably have an early night after some tellyboxing this evening.

Take care, Rick
