Good, but cold wind.
Even though Monday was one of Nicky’s new weekend days, it was very busy for both of us. I had a number of work commitments and Nicky spent all day cooking making Alpha desserts (a small one for us) and a lovely beef casserole for us.
The rest of the week has been a pretty normal working week for both of us. Much of mine has been spent on a couple of machines at home because of them needing a full rebuild. Nicky’s work routine has also changed a little with her now doing a late duty every Thursday as opposed to every other Thursday.
I took Dawn our landlady to Greenlane Clinic for a short visit on Tuesday, passed my eye test on Friday, and had a good evening out at Deep and Meaningful.
The weather has been changeable and often wet and stormy, and the weekend has been much cooler with winds coming off the Antarctic.
Following on from my technology upgrade last week, Nicky’s new iPad arrived this week. Her old one has provided sterling service but its wireless network inability has become very frustrating, and the sensitivity of the touch screen has also deteriorated. It is over 6 years old so has done well. I plan to re-purpose it at some point. She is very pleased with her new one, which is quicker, lighter, has better sound, and much better network connection.
Breaking from our new Saturday routine I had the car yesterday while Nicky was at work so that I could go to an Electric Vehicle show. It was quite interesting, especially a talk about the cost of ownership, which revealed that NZ now generates more electricity from wind than from coal. Hydro is still the biggest source and demand is not outstripping supply. There still are not any cars that fit into our price range, but the second hand market is growing.
Stella collected Nicky from work on her way here for Scrabble and Steve joined them. We watched the film Jackie in the evening which focuses on Jackie Kennedy in the days after her husbands assassination. Interesting but not entertaining.
After church today Nicky headed off to prison. I started a jigsaw due to the weather encouraging indoor activities, though I did manage a walk down to the beach in-between the showers. The wind was cold so I was pleased that I had wrapped up well.
Take care, Rick
