What did that say?

This week has been an "at home" week. I haven't had any on-site work until today, neither of us have been out any evening, and Nicky stayed at home on Wednesday with a bug. She started to feel unwell while at work on Tuesday with sore glands and throat. The library wasn't too busy at the beginning of the week due to the wind and the rain, but it was busy again when a high pressure system brought clear skies at the end of the week.

I have had a couple of shopping trips, one to Sylvia Park to the Sony shop to get Nicky a new BlueTooth headset for using with her iPad. The other was to Airport Oaks to buy some new trousers from the Icebreaker Outlet store with my birthday money. I know it was pre-birthday but it was a nice day and I fancied a trip out. I also managed a trip to Whatipu on Friday morning and had a lovely walk along the beach in-spite of the cool wind.

After a lovely breakfast of bangers and toms on toast yesterday, Nicky went off to Spotlight and I did the ironing. In the afternoon Nicky cut the grass (still quite squelchy underfoot) and I made eccles cakes. As part of my birthday celebration I invited some of my fellow MeetUp members for a game of Consulting Detective. Stella also joined us. The visitors all brought lovely savoury treats with them, and we provided drinks and sweet treats. These included my birthday chocolate cheesecake which Nicky made for me, and is just stunning. We had a very good evening in a very relaxed atmosphere.

Nicky has been at church today and then Scrabbling in Henderson this afternoon with Stella, Steve and Ros. She dropped me at the home of one of my elderly customers just down the road whose daughter is visiting from Wellington for the long weekend and needed some help with her Mac. Unfortunately things didn't go to plan so I have brought the machine back home with me to work on this evening and tomorrow morning.

We have been watching Morden on DVD, dramatisations of the Camilla Läckberg murder mysteries. It is in Swedish (?) with small English subtitles so we swing the sofa round to the front of the TV so that we are close enough to read them! They are very well done and we will be enjoying the last one this evening.

Take care, Rick
