Summery World Record Attempt
Summer officially started this weekend, but it was a bit hard to tell today, which was a shame as the rest of the week hasn't been too bad. We have a had a little rain and some cloudy skies, but also some good long sunny periods tempered with cool southerly breezes at times.
I have done a couple of quick Mac jobs this week, while Nicky has continued to be very busy in the library. She had Monday off as time in lieu and did loads of cleaning and gardening. In the evening she had a prison group "take away meal", ie fast food is provided for their end of year gathering. She was at house group on Wednesday evening and then off to prison again on Friday. This time is was for the prison volunteers Christmas thank-you lunch. Apart from the hall being very cold, this was an excellent event with lots of very good food.
While in non-work mode I have continued making arrangements for our trip to the UK next year, and ensured that the clothes are wash, dried, ironed, and that food is on the table.
Yesterday was the Blockhouse Bay Santa Parade, and this year Nicky participated for the first time with the Church. I sat in the sunshine on the bridge of the Spirit of Blockhouse Bay:
The crowds were enthralled, though I think the dog was less interested:
Somebody loaned Nicky a REAL baby - brave soul - I'm not entirely sure that they have got it back yet:
Later in the afternoon afternoon Nicky took Shani to St Lukes to meet up with Claire after work to go and see the last of the Twilight series of films. Afterwards, they all came back here for soup and ale bread before I ran Claire and Shani home.
Nicky has been busy at home today, having some ladies round for morning tea after Church, sorting through clothes of Jan's mum (who died recently), Scrabbelling and cake making. I meanwhile drove down to Papamoa Beach near Tauranga to try and help an Auckland radio station break the skinny dip world record. It currently stands at 413 people, and we came close with 399 today, which was better than their first attempt yesterday which was on the South Island. It was a long drive (around 3 hours) but the event was quite good fun, and there was great scenery on the journey.
That's all for now,
Take care, Rick
