Semi-final Weekend
We have had a quiet and routine seven days, though we were very pleased to start the week with the All Blacks still in the RWC. Work and Uni have been as busy as ever for Nicky and Claire, and I have done a couple of Mac jobs too - continuing the education of silver-haired ladies in the use of modern technology.
On Monday evening I attended the camera club AGM and what will probably be my last meeting as I don't plan to renew my membership. I have found the club quite interesting and quite enjoyed doing the newsletter, but I don't really see photography as a competitive sport so have decided that the club isn't for me. I have joined a group that organises meeting via a website which might be much more my thing.
Nicky had another good evening at house group on Wednesday - Helen and Warwick were back and hosting again.
We have had quite a bit of rain this week, but the weather has improved over the weekend. Yesterday Nicky and I went to Parnell to have a look at some new work by Tony Ogle (one of our favourite local artists) in one of the galleries, which we enjoyed. Other artists were featured too. We had pancakes for tea - some stuffed with smoked bacon and mushrooms, the others with lemon curd or similar goodness. We were very disappointed that the French beat the Welsh in the semi-final, and everybody else round here seems to feel the same.
Today the weather has been gorgeous, especially this afternoon. It has felt like summer is just around the corner (though more rain is forecast for the coming week). After Nicky got back from her prison visit this morning, we have spent the afternoon on the deck reading (in my case) and sewing and listening to an audio book (in Nicky's case). She is going through a Lee Child phase at the moment and is getting me indoctrinated too. However, we found this such hard work that we had to have a break mid-afternoon and wander up the the dairy and buy ice cream cones (Hokey Pokey for N, Passion fruit for me) which we ate on "the common". Then it was noses back to the grindstone until the News came on. We have just has some very good minestrone soup and are now getting reading for tonight's semi-final - the All Blacks vs Australia. It is NOT a foregone conclusion!!
By for now, and take care,
Rick
