A busy and wet week
The film is on pause at the moment; I needed the loo and while I was out of the room for two banana second's Nicky thrust the phone into Mike's hand so that he could ring his folks in England…I'll explain more later.
It has been a wet week, most of the time, which is making the laundry (which you all know is close to my heart) a logistical nightmare. It is not really cold enough to have the heaters on in the house yet so getting stuff dry is a bit of a problem.
Anyway, Monday was a public holiday with it being Easter Monday. I think we just pottered around the house in the morning due to the weather, and then Mike Cox arrived early afternoon with a camper van. We went out to do a bit of shopping and Mike came with us before having a good evening of catching up. At about 5am on Tuesday morning Mike and I went out to the airport to collect his Helen who was arriving from England. Once we got her home we had breakfast and got ready for the day. Mike and Helen just "chilled" while Nicky and I went off to work.
I had a busy couple of days with work on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then went to the airport again late Wednesday afternoon to collect Claire and Ryan returning from Queenstown. We had dinner together and a good chat, though we haven't had time to see all their photos yet. Meanwhile, Mike and Helen had gone off in their camper van, trying to find somewhere where it wasn't raining.
Nicky has been at work all week, apart from Monday of course, and was on her first late duty at New Lynn on Friday. This was frustrating as it affected her viewing of the build-up to the Royal Wedding, but as soon as she got home she started watching until Will and Kate got back to The Palace before giving in and going to bed. She has been very tired this week but each day has been a little better than the previous one.
Saturday was relatively normal - Claire was at work, it didn't rain so the washing machine was put to good use, and I took Nicky to see a replica of Kate's wedding dress! In the evening we wallowed in the hot pools at Parakai which was very pleasant.
Today we had a visit from Becky, had lunch and then and went out to Bethalls and got rather wet but enjoyed the peace and fresh air of walking along the beach. Just before we left I had a text from Mike asking if the could call in and stay overnight, and they arrived just as we got back from Bethalls. So, after tea we have settled down to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One on DVD which arrived this week. But then I needed to pause the film and we are back where we started. Nicky is still on the phone talking to Mike's mum, and I have got this post finished. Claire and Ryan have just returned, and the rain is beating against the windows. Autumn has arrived.
Take care,
Rick
