July 12th

It has been another week of doing things, but differently. Nicky has been off work all week. She saw a doctor about her sinuses at the weekend, and he prescribed a range of drugs which have knocked her for six. She was feeling very unsteady on her feet and not sleeping well, though still had a good appetite. She decided to see an osteopath at the Unitec clinic on Wednesday and that made a big difference. The osteopath told me what to do in terms of some lymph drainage massage, so I have been doing this twice a day and she seems to improving slowly, but still has good and bad parts of the day. She didn't feel well enough to go to her second osteopath appointment on Friday, but she has another one arranged for next week.

Claire has enjoyed the last week of her holiday and has been very good in letting me use the car. She took Shani to the cinema today and then is out having diner with friends this evening.

I have had some MacOnSite work, have been continuing with my remaining college assignments, and looking for massage work. Friday was my first day of renting a room for massage, in a hair salon in Grey Lynn, and I had one paying customer! This was very unexpected as I have done little promotion of the massage business (Nothing's Better) as yet, but it went OK. I have booked the room for one day a week for three months so that I can find out if I can actually do the job. All I need to do now is get some more customers....

The weather has been quite cold again this week, and yesterday was very wet, but the sun is still warming us very well when it appears. We have had a fairly gentle weekend at home. Shaun and Kim stayed for lunch after dropping Shani off, and Steve also joined us for Nicky's excellent leak and potato soup followed by tipsy cake. Steve also stayed for Scrabble so Nicky had a bit of mental stimulation too.

University beckons for Claire again next week, and my coursework deadline is looming ever closer, so I know what I will be doing for part of the week.

Bye for now. Enjoy the warm weather in England.

Rick
