March 8th
It is Sunday evening. Claire is out at a restaurant celebrating a friends 18th, Nicky and I have just been watching Stephen Fry in America, and I have just come out of the shower and realised I haven't updated the blog. I also need to get something out of the freezer for tomorrow night's diner.
Anyway, the better weather has returned this weekend after a very wet Thursday and quite damp Friday morning. Nicky and I have taken advantage of the Waitakere Open Art weekend today and been to some artists galleries. We went to the one we wanted to see the most first - Tony Ogle. He is out near Bethals Beach so it was also the furthest away, but it was well worth the trip. Some of you may be aware of the print we bought 10 years ago of Roberton Island while we were in the Bay of Islands. It used to hang in our bedroom so we could wake up and see it every morning and remind ourselves of a very memorable weekend. It was painted by Tony Ogle and all the other work of his which we saw (and have seen since getting here in 2007) we have liked. So, it was a real treat to go and meet the man himself and see even more of his work in his own studio. He turned out to be a lovely warm and welcoming family man, very modest and instantly likeable. We stayed and chatted for about 20 minutes.
Yesterday, while Claire was hard at work in Whitcoulls, Nicky went on the first of her Saturday quilting days. These are on the first Saturday of each month for most of the year, but it turned out to be a little shorter than she expected and she was back home by about 2.30. All the same, she enjoyed it. I spent the morning practising my massage on three of the Moss-Mason clan, and then the afternoon on laundry, studying and cooking.
It has been a generally quiet and routine week with Claire starting to settle in at University, my college course continuing apace, and Nicky working at Ranui. Nicky saw the physio again about her shoulder on Thursday and all seems to be going well so she might not have to go back again. I have not earned any money this week, but my on-line advertising which started mid-week has generated one phone enquiry, and the new Yellow Pages directory comes out in 2 or 3 weeks. The telesales promotion should also start soon I am hoping that this will really start the ball rolling. We shall see.
Bye for now,
Rick
