Moving and work

Two major things this week - we have moved into Clare Cottage and I have got some modelling work booked.

The previous tenant of Clare Cottage (Nicky's mothers' place) left the place in quite a mess. On Tuesday the cleaners came in and made the place a whole lot better, and then on Wednesday the carpets were shampooed. Nicky and I moved in on Thursday and Claire on Friday. I had a very poor night's sleep on Thursday because even though Nicky had washed the blankets and counterpane, I spent the night sniffling and sneezing with an allergic reaction. So, on Friday I went a bought a duvet and turquoise blue duvet cover set. Much better sleep on Friday. We also bought an oil filled fin heater for Claire's room as it doesn't get much sun and the carpet was taking a long time to dry. However, we are now here, getting organised, and it is good to have our independence again. It has been very good of Clem and Pat to put us up, but it is nice to be doing our own thing again.

I have got four sessions of modelling booked running from now until the middle of November. Three are with the Freelance Animation School on Queens Street in Auckland, and the other is with the Hungry Creek College which is about 20min drive north of us. So, it is not a vast amount of work but it is a start. I have still heard nothing for the Mac support companies which I have contacted.

Nicky has an unexpected telephone interview on Friday for a job at Blockhouse Bay public library. We hope to get some feedback on this later this week.

My NZ driving licence has arrived, my first official piece of documentation. Claire has had a driving lesson to prepare her for her test this Friday, and she has another lesson the same day.

On Wednesday we had been invited over to Kim and Sean's for dinner which was very good. I enjoyed meeting Sean for the first time and Kim';s cooking was fantastic. On the way back went to Newmarket to see a film as Pat had given us two free tickets. We were very late back and I discovered I had forgotten to pick up the house key so we spent a few hours in the car waiting for Clem to get up at 4.30!

We were all disappointed with Sunday's rugby result, but pleased that England beat Australia so hope that England can beat France to compensate a little for them beating the All Blacks. The game kicked off at 8am here so I dropped Nicky at church and went over to a bar with a big screen showing the match, and had a very nice breakfast. Nicky joined me towards the end of the game for breakfast after having bought jams at church and sticky buns at the bakery.

We had Sunday lunch with Paul and Jenny and family. It was good to see them all together in Howick and have a tour of the house. Naomi and Doug are looking very happy together and are still house hunting. Anna has started her new job (she has had a promotion) but is looking stressed. On the way back we had a couple of hours with the Moss-Masons and were too full to eat the sticky buns Nicky had purchased, so brought ours home for a late tea.

I will try and post some photos later - we are on dail-up now in Clare Cottage so it will take time.
